Captain Whidbey

This 700 tile, 36’ long mural was commissioned for the historic Captain Whidbey Inn. The horseshoe bar showcases local flora and fauna that can be found on the island. Starting from the left side of the bar visitors see seashells, seagrasses and underwater life. As they move around the bar, they’ll witness a natural progression to an onshore terrestrial habitat that focuses on plant life, birds and native trees. Alongside the painted imagery is a poem translated into morse code. The poem was written by David Whyte, a Whidbey island native. Captain Whidbey’s remodel has garnered attention from Vogue, Gray Magazine and Sunset Magazine.
